Dalmatian Porcellio scaber is a distinctive and popular colour morph, known for its crisp white body covered in bold black spotting, creating a unique dalmatian-like pattern. Highly active and visually striking, this morph is a favourite among collectors and hobbyists for its consistent patterning and hardy nature.

These isopods thrive in a well-ventilated enclosure with a clear moisture gradient, allowing them to regulate between humid and drier areas as needed. Ideal temperatures range from 18–26°C, with moderate humidity and good airflow to maintain stable, healthy conditions.

A natural substrate of soil, coconut fibre, and leaf litter is recommended to provide both nutrition and shelter. Cork bark, hides, and layered organic material should be included to encourage natural behaviours such as grazing, burrowing, and clustering. Regular access to decaying plant matter is essential, along with occasional calcium and protein supplementation to support strong exoskeleton development and successful moulting.

Hardy, fast to establish, and beginner-friendly, Porcellio scaber is an excellent choice for all levels of keepers. The Dalmatian morph adds a bold and highly decorative variation to this reliable species, making it a standout addition to any isopod collection.
